New restaurant Loire Casual Gourmet, serves up casual French atmosphere and food on Harbord St.

Childhood friends Jean-Charles Dupoire and Sylvain Brissonnet grew up in France’s Loire Valley in a culture rich with food and wine, where they dreamed of owning a restaurant together.

Chef Jean-Charles grandmother showed him that uncomplicated recipes, cooked with the freshest local ingredients are truly inspiring. After culinary school, he held positions at fine hotels like London’s Berkeley and Savoy. Most recently, Chef de Cuisine of the Epic in the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

After culinary school and gaining European experience, Sommelier Sylvain was recruited by the Langdon Hall Country Inn and Spa, in Cambridge. He has been internationally recognized in Wine Spectator.

In 2008, Jean-Charles and Sylvain found an ideal location on Harbord Street for the dream of their lifetime. Loire Restaurant is now a reality.

Open since November 14th, Loire is a place inspired by the old adage of ‘good friends, good food and good wine’, and it is evident in the ambiance of the restaurant, on the plate and in the glass.

Open for dinner Tuesday–Sunday, and lunch Tuesday–Friday, Loire plans frequent changes to their menu, to use seasonal items and provide variety. Delicious dishes now include appetizers like BBQ Glazed Frog Legs and Warm St. Maure Goat Cheese, and mains of Corn Meal Crusted Monkfish and Grilled Flank Steak with mushroom-potato-bacon casserole.

Visit soon and welcome them to the neighbourhood. They’ll be happy to see you and serve you.
