Mmmm... a Traditional Easter Treat from COBS BREAD
Monday, February 23, 2009
‘Hot cross buns! Hot cross buns! One a penny, two a penny, Hot cross buns!’ So goes a nursery rhyme inspired by cries of “Hot Cross Buns!” of English street vendors when selling their wares.
Hot Cross buns have long been a symbol of Easter. Of course, they are also fantastically delicious! The spicy aroma, dried fruit, icing and sweet glaze, served hot with lots of butter... nothing says ‘Spring’ as much these delectable treats.
Available at COBS BREAD March 5—April 15, pick up traditional fruit, or chocolate buns for the kids. Baked fresh daily from scratch, try a sample at any COBS location. Like all COBS products, they freeze really well, so buy extra to enjoy later in the spring. Traditional Hot Cross Buns are made with no eggs or diary products, making them ideal for Lent.
This year COBS BREAD has partnered with Big Brothers & Big Sisters. On March 28th COBS will donate $1 for every 6-pack of Hot Cross Buns sold. This fantastic organization positively impacts kids lives—78% of their “Littles” from social assistance backgrounds no longer rely on this form of income, and a disproportionately high number go on to complete higher education compared to others in their age group.
Early in April, COBS BREAD opens its newest location in Bloor West Village.
