This Summer at Bloor Cinema
Saturday, June 13, 2009
This June Bloor Cinema celebrates Pride Week with Queer View, a series of seminal queer films presented by queer artists from Sunday, June 21, through Thursday, June 25. Films include Windows, The Sergeant, C.R.A.Z.Y., Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Go Fish, Bound, My Own Private Idaho, Showgirls, and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Tickets are $10 per screening, or $15 for two consecutive screenings. Visit the Bloor Cinema’s website for more details and show times.
In July, Bloor Cinema is teaming up with The Fringe Theatre Festival to bring you a new kind of event. The Silver Stage will blur the line between theatre and film by taking the ‘Rocky Horror’ experience to the next level. Live casts will act out the movies onstage while the films are playing behind them, using inventive props and costumes to transform the familiar into exciting new experiences.
The Silver Stage will run throughout the Fringe Festival, from July 1-12, and will include showings of the following: Jurassic Park, Blue Velvet, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the Buffy the Vampire episode Once More, With Feeling. All tickets will be $10.
Bloor Cinema is the Fringe’s newest ‘Bring Your Own Venue’ space, and it will be—by far—the largest ever. This will be the summer’s must-attend event for both movie and theatre fans. Visit Bloor Cinema website for more details.
