Late night dining, nightly D.J.’s and more at Insomnia

Insomnia Cafe is just the kind of place we wish we had close to home, with a kitchen open ‘till the wee morning hours (who doesn’t love a great late night nosh place?), drink specials and tunes by hot D.J.’s every night, and free wireless access for all.
 
Rock & roll tunes and $3 Jager shots from the Jager machine make Monday nights mighty fine. Wednesdays there’s $16 pitchers of Sangria. Go for some Martini Madness on Thursdays—at $5.50 a drink. 25 different flavours of vodkas are perfect if you’re in the mood for something classic. Or try the Snowball martini—it will blow your mind. Fridays and Saturdays enjoy $19 pitchers of mojitos.
 
While sharing a pitcher or two with friends, share some tapas, too. Our favourites include the Mediterranean Platter and Cheese Plate for two. Also topping our list are delicious Panko Encrusted Curried Crab Cakes and their amazing mussels they dish up in a white wine cream sauce.
 
For a bigger appetite, there are thin crust pizzas, pastas and full entrées (mmm steak ....mmmm burger). Insomnia has weekly menu specials, with an emphasis on local products and seasonal items. All the desserts are made by their own chefs, we love the Climax cake (the name speaks for itself.)
 
Brunch is fabulous. Try the Eggs Manami, a lightly curried rice patty with poached eggs and hollandaise. Craving something sweet—try waffles or pancakes topped with fruits, chocolate and even ice cream. Finish with the White Insomnia Martini—vodka, godiva white chocolate liqueur, coffee liqueur and espresso, shaken on ice.
