Considering renovating your space instead of marketing it for sale? Why move when renovating your place can make it more suitable to your lifestyle, and your wants and needs?
It’s important to know that you have made the right decision when you choose to renovate or sell your home. You must first know what you’re in for before you decide that a facelift for your property is the direction in which you want to go.
Ask yourself, is your space in need of a some practical decorating or is it more extreme? Does it need mechanical, structural or electrical updating? Most importantly, will your budget require that you get financing and will all this expense recapture the value of the property in the short and long terms?
Here’s a simple check-list to follow in the great debate known as Renovation v. Relocation:
- Cost to renovate/relocate
- Location suitability
- Qualifications for financing/equity mortgage
- Lifestyle changes, wants and needs
- Have you outgrown your home?
Some renovations can be pricey, although you can upgrade your property tremendously with changes that include wood flooring, kitchen cabinets, plumbing, bathroom fixtures, etc.
Financing (new or equity) can be a good way to secure the funds necessary to make your changes, whether they are simple or complex.
A consultant experienced in decorating/construction, real estate and financing can help you answer the questions you need answered, to make the best decision for you and your family.
